Star of Hope Ministries, Inc. is celebrating the children of Greater Paterson for Christmas 2009. Working with families over the years has taught us the value in meeting the needs of a child. Often it is the cries of a child that give the local church opportunity and credibility to minister to an entire family. All families, regardless of composition, want their children safe, fed, educated and hopeful about the future. We believe it is the validation of being chosen by God and given purpose in our existence that responds, reconciles and restores children into heirs of the promise. Reinforcing God-given worth and dignity makes the difference in not only what one sees and experiences but also in how one responds to what is seen and experienced. Empowerment is an investment and takes time. Surrendering to the risen Savior is empowering and requires a relationship of trust. It is the local pastors and congregations who give the investment of a lifetime in developing these trusting relationships secure in the knowledge of the fulfillment of the promise.
This Christmas we are praying for God to perform miracles in the lives of our children and young people. We want them to unwrap the greatest gift of all - the gift of salvation - the gift of eternal life. Many of our children are still far off, but they are watching and waiting (and perhaps even praying) to discover the genuine and unconditional love of Christ through us His people. God helping us, we will not disappoint them. In the name of Jesus, we will represent the kingdom of God on earth to their families. We need you to help us generously give to the children of Greater Paterson who are poor in spirit. We want to provide the gift of a new toy, game, puzzle or craft to each child being discipled by the churches in the Star of Hope Member Network. This Christmas, loved ones will gather together through the smiles and laughter of children opening presents and be joyful. It is through these gifts to our children that many families will thank God, our Father, for the greatest gift of all - our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given… And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). Thank you for your prayerful consideration of praising God for His gift of our Savior Jesus Christ through your gift to inner city children. |
