As I enter my fifth month of leading the ministry, I continue to be awed by the blessings of God upon Star of Hope. The Lord has allowed us the opportunity to reach into and reconcile many lives that are both similar and different. We not only represent but consist of several denominations, races, ethnicities and classes of people who reside in urban, suburban and rural areas of northern New Jersey. Each newsletter is an articulation of the vision by conveying methodology (initiatives, programs, services), to ensure that “Residents of the Greater Paterson area are part of a transformed community and possess the hope, skills and relationships necessary to help them become self-sufficient, resolve their own problems, and control the destiny of their communities honoring the Lord Jesus Christ;” however, we do not often highlight the partnership that God has provided to do this reconciling work among the poor in spirit and body; nor have we often shared our commitment to lead with diligence and excellence - achieved by a commitment to prayer and discipline in the exercise of our gifts and talents in the most advanced administrative practices. It is to the latter point that I address this appeal.
As Christian stewards, we rely upon the power of the Holy Spirit working in us to manage the business of the ministry in this age of technology and communication through the information highway better known as the internet. Our assurance is that Star of Hope Ministries, Inc. not only meets the legal regulations of business and finance but excels in the integrity of its method of collection, review, transmission, and the storage of information thereby ensuring privacy and protecting against the unauthorized access of records and files of donors, beneficiaries, volunteers and staff. The facility is licensed and operates under federal, state and municipal codes offering a safe and sanitary environment; free of discrimination and harassment.
We understand that we are accountable to God, to you and to each other as we continue to be change-agents of Christ ushering the kingdom of God in the inner city. Further, we recognize that the affairs of the ministry must be decent and in order as we believe Star of Hope has been chosen by God to also “…carry the offering, which we administer in order to honor the Lord himself and to show our eagerness to help. We want to avoid any criticism of the way we administer this liberal gift. For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men” (2 Corinthians 8:19-21). This confession is as true today as when we began in 1913 to the glory of God!
Star of Hope is a solvent and relevant ministry with a competitive edge in the impact of its service because of its diligence in the procurement, utilization and maintenance of technology. On behalf of the ministry, I am asking you to prayerfully consider sending a financial gift to support the cost of remaining compliant with the regulations of technology (internal record keeping and reporting), as we pledge to use our minds, hearts and hands to excel in Christian Stewardship.
